Our Essence
Our Essence or Nuestra Esencia in Spanish is an Edu-fy project in collaboration with Peruvian individuals.
Our Essence is a literacy program that empowers First Nations children to learn to read and write in their first language. It also connects children around the world through the exchange of translated stories written by the children themselves.
The initiative aims to promote literacy amongst First Nations children who often learn to read in a second or third language. By having books written by older siblings in their own language, young pre-readers are able to first be exposed to the written word in their first language which makes it easier to connect the written word to its meaning.
Our Essence also aims to link children around the globe through the stories they write.
