What: The course introduces participants to the future direction of education; the practice of the pedagogies of project-based learning, game-based learning and social and emotional learning as well as the frameworks of design-thinking, 21st century skills and dialogic teaching, and the neuro-education research behind the effectiveness of the methodologies. Finally it explains how these pedagogies and frameworks can be integrated into a unit of work through the innovative and engaging Collaborative Global Changemaker Program (CGCP) which aligns with the future direction of education.
Who: This course is initially for teachers who are registered to implement the CGCP in their schools. However, others who are interested may also sign up for it at a later stage.
When: This course is self-paced. It is designed to be a basis for implementation of innovative programs in your school. You are encouraged to revisit the lessons at any time.
Why: Young people are anxious about their future. We need to equip our students with the skills to tackle the issues of the future ahead of them and empower them to take action on solving these issues.
Cost: US$79 inclusive of tax. The cost includes a 40-page Collaborative Global Changemaker Program Workbook that is to be used with the course.
Overview
What skills and knowledge do our young people need to learn now to be able to thrive in that future?
With global issues and the need to solve them becoming foremost in the minds of students, these considerations can be used as a means to help students have agency in the future they will face.
In this course, teachers will discover how they can integrate all of the seemingly different frameworks and pedagogical approaches into an integrated program that is meaningful and engaging for students. It will be rewarding to teachers too! The program is the Collaborative Global Changemaker Program developed by Edu-fy. In NSW, Australia this program is offered in partnership with the United Nations Association of Australia NSW Division.
Course outcome
You will finish the course with a presentation you can make to colleagues, parents and other stakeholders on how the Collaborative Global Changemaker Program will enhance students’ experience at your school. Your presentation will be based on the learnings you gain through completing the modules. These are:
- an overview of the future direction of education from the perspective of the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and how the Collaborative Global Changemaker Program aligns with this direction;
- an understanding, based on research evidence, of the benefits and limitations of the pedagogies of project-based learning, game-based learning, social and emotional learning and the frameworks of design-thinking, 21st century skills and dialogic teaching;
- a practical understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and
- an understanding of the process and benefits of the Collaborative Global Changemaker Program (CGCP).
Course requirements
The main requirement is to reflect on your learnings at the end of each module and create an informative presentation slide on the topic.
To this end, it is recommended that you keep a journal to record your thoughts and reflections after completing each lesson.
To fully appreciate how to implement the Collaborative Global Changemaker Program (CGCP) in your classrooms, it is highly recommended that you be a Global Changemaker yourself and complete the CGCP workbook.
